Al's impressive history as a dog trainer began over thirty years ago, when he became involved in the world of protection dogs. He has travelled to Germany several times to train with the very best in the Schutzhund world.
In 1983, he helped establish O.G. Boston a Schutzhund club that is still active today. In 1987, Al and his German Shepherd, Bacchus von Ritterburg SchH3 achieved the title of New England Regional Schutzhund 3 Champions. The following year they placed 2nd in the New England Regional Championships.
Al's work with dogs transcends the competition ring; he has helped many owners develop steady and reliable home and personal protection dogs, with an emphasis on control through obedience. As a helper, Al has extensive experience with all of the working breeds, and is able to bring out the strengths of any dog. He is especially talented in the early education of young protection dogs, and is greatly respected as a teacher of new helpers and handlers.
